Few years ago, a man sold an unproductive farmland in search for crude oil in another part of the country. He traveled long distances and spent all he had without getting any result. The man who bought his farmland decided to cultivate the land by making sure it becomes productive. He was determined to see the land become productive. He brought in farm machineries to work on the land. While working on the farmland they discovered crude oil on the land which made the man an automatic billionaire. Yes, oil! He wanted to go into agriculture but he ended up in oil industry. When the seller of the farmland heard of it, he had heart attack and died. What he was looking for was right before his eyes. He was sitting on wealth without knowing because the land was untrapped.
The farmland here is your talent, your skill, your business etc, that it is not working is because you have not patiently cultivated it enough. You will not be productive in a task when all you think of is to quit it.
Sadly, how people move from opportunity to look for opportunity and end up with no opportunity. We are not meant to succeed at the same level. For some, success comes quick and not last long because of poor management, and for others, success takes time but last long because of good management skill.
You have to be wait patiently and do what you are doing if you want to see greatness with it. You cannot get the best from a mango seed, planting it in the south, after two days you move it to the north, before you know it you move the same seed to the west. Give it time!
What should you do?
- Don’t move out from an unproductive opportunity with both legs.
- If it is not working today, be patient because it will work tomorrow.
- Focus on what you have while not losing sight of what you need.
